BSAVA Approved Practice

The BSAVA operates a Practice Standards Scheme which aims to raise the quality of patient care offered by veterinary practices. To achieve the BSAVA Standard, a veterinary surgery must meet certain requirements encompassing premises, diagnostic equipment, laboratory facilities, qualifications and continuing education of staff, dispensing of medicines, and health and safety regulations. Each practice must complete a detailed questionnaire confirming that it meets the Standards, and is then thoroughly inspected by a trained independent veterinary surgeon. Once approved, a practice can use the BSAVA Practice Standards logo on its stationary and display a plaque or certificate on its premises.
